Adrenal Cocktail Recipes

Updated: Aug 15, 2019

There are many adrenal cocktail recipes we use for the Root Cause Protocol. Which one you choose will be a personal choice. I personally do not use the fresh squeezed orange juice for a couple of reasons. First, if it isn't fresh, organic, unpasteurized, it is, in my opinion, not worth it - I try to stay away from sugar. Second, I'm often on the move and having something shelf stable and portable is very appealing to me.

I like a combination of Sea Salt + Potassium + Whole Food Vitamin C source. My go-to for the WF Vitamin C is Innate Response Whole Food Vitamin C 400mg tablets, cut in half for a 200mg serving. I also use, on occasion, the Ancient Lakes Kakadu Plum. (A smaller serving of C, (60mg) but a potent and whole food source - so a nice option.)

I alternate my potassium source. I like to get the potassium bicarbonate in, but am always aware to make sure it is on an empty stomach as it can lower stomach acid and interfere with proper digestion. (1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal)

I like the potassium gluconate or potassium chloride for anytime of the day - and alternate them as well. I listen to my body and find that I gravitate to once potassium source or another for a period of time. I don't box myself in, rather, I try to vary my sources.

A note about dosing of different potassium sources: READ LABELS carefully. Make sure you understand what the serving size is of your particular source to equal and NEVER exceed 375mg per adrenal cocktail you will take.

My Sea Salt choices also vary at times. Redmond Real Salt is a very common one to use, but I like to also use Celtic Sea Salt or French Sea Salt on occasion. Both the Celtic and French tend to take on moisture so they are better left for on-demand ADRENAL COCKTAIL preparations and the Real Salt is great for mixing the dry ingredients ahead of time.

What is the goal when mixing the adrenal cocktail recipe?

  1. Whole Food Vitamin C : 60mg (I like to take up to 200mg- this does not compromise the recipe)
